And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD , which he commanded them not.
O 'fogo estranho' (não autorizado) oferecido por Nadabe e Abiú gerou debates: 1) poderia ser fogo não tirado do altar (lv16:12), 2) incenso não prescrito (ex30:9) ou 3) ato fora da hierarquia sacerdotal (nm3:4). A punição imediata reflete a gravidade em violar a santidade divina.
