A mulher vestida de sol é interpretada de três formas: 1) como o povo de Israel (baseado em gn37:9-10, onde José sonha com sol, lua e estrelas); 2) como a Igreja; 3) na tradição católica, como Maria. As 12 estrelas podem representar as 12 tribos ou os 12 apóstolos.
