By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
Abel e Caim: O motivo da aceitação do sacrifício de Abel não é explicitado em Gênesis 4:4-5. Hebreus atribui à qualidade da fé, enquanto textos judaicos como Targum Neofiti sugerem que Caim ofereceu frutos roubados. A menção de Abel 'ainda falar' refere-se ao seu sangue clamando por justiça (Gn 4:10).
